How did it happen?

So during another experiment I laid down in front of the camera, which was going off at intervals with remote shooting running through my computer. I was just messing around on the bathroom floor making faces. There were a few of the shots I actually really liked, to my surprise, since I had no make up on, and it was fairly late at night, I felt I didn't look my best. But what a liar de-saturation is :) The make-shift lighting, is pretty different for lighting a face. If I was actually trying to shoot a portrait of myself, I may not have thought of arranging the lights in that way.

Here is one shot that I love.

पीए Pieces

I think that I am finding I fit into the "commercial photographer" category. I don't especially like event, or portraiture. Mainly because I have a hard time with people. I like to pay attention to details and mood. If it's a very specific shot of a person in a costume or in an elaborate setting, for some reason that's much more comfortable for me. Because it's somehow more ok to be a weirdo. And the person is more like an object or doll. The amount of setting up and creating it, makes it so much more than just pressing a button, and it is! It is art!

I do enjoy food photography (what small amount I've done officially), and certain interesting product shots, or small scale settings.

But lighting, it's all about lighting.

The Cup

(thanks andrewle)

This is a cup that has reoccurred in my life, and I'm sure yours and everyone else's! I decided to take a photo every time i saw it, and it made for some oddly interesting photos. My favorite ones, are like where's waldo. Try to find the cup!
So then i made a flickr group for it. It's really exciting to get other people in on this, and see what they see.

Please join the group!
