A Poster for Priester

I created a poster yesterday for a Mixer Event for Mel! This was a quick project meant to attract a younger crowd than usual.

Second Chance Prom

I was very honored to be a part of this project. I'd been talking with Darren of Creative Distillery for a while. We frequently bounce ideas off one another just to have another critical design eye with an opinion, and since he's been freelancing for a long time now, he's a valuable teacher for me. He asked me to be a part of designing a poster and logo for this event.

The thing is, is that you may have heard of it. It was put on by the Mississippi Safe Schools Coalition, and was in reaction to a high school banning same sex couples from attending the prom. They wanted to throw a prom for everyone, and everyone was invited. Several high profile individuals were involved such as Lance Bass, Green Day, Questlove, Cat Cora, and more. Ellen tweeted about it!!

It happened and was a great success! I was able to attend and see that... yes, it was in fact just like a regular prom. I felt like I was in high school again!

thanks to Mister Nick, my date to the prom, for the photos.

Big Mamoo's Cafe

I'm pretty excited about this Logo. In some ways it's a sin against design school ... too many colors, large mark, textured writing. etc. But I tend to like to break the rules a little and be a little silly.

I was asked to illustrate a cow. A girl cow with wings, and an apron. I accepted the job and I have taken quite a liking to Big Mamoo! This cafe is in a small town in Georgia near Savannah. I'm definitely going to visit someday. I'm willing to bet that it's delicious as well!

Boo!

What do you think of this?

I'm thinking about trying to make a greeting card series. Something cute like this. I made this when working on another logo at work, and just had a little side play time. If I took it a bit further, thought of a good phrase to go with it, maybe it might be likable enough to sell somewhere?

If nothing else it's something I enjoyed.

Ginger Williams

One of the sweet girls in town who is also extremely awesome, I haven't had the pleasure of getting to know (yet). This is Ginger Williams. Her art work has always stood out in our area, and she's always coming up with new styles it seems, but they all fit together in some way. They are creative in terms of subject, and I have noticed a progression in her talent over time.

Recently, she's created (or maybe she's only recently updated it) an etsy store. And now you can buy her work from all over the world! You are privileged! Take a look at her shapes and color palettes that make you want to sit back, relax, and eat an ice cream sandwich.
