Photos from Uganda

This is an out-of-order post that contains no photos. What it DOES contain is this video. This is super rough edit of 100+ images I threw together to show Terry over at Simon Cyrene. The background music and interviews are from the trip. There is no real narrative yet..there will eventually be another video that tells a story..this one was just to show a lot of images quickly (to someone who knows the story and who is already emotionally invested in the project).

That was part introduction and part disclaimer. Shocker. Anyway...

Oh and if you want to see it in HD, click on the thingy.

Day 068

el2_068

I've started a new set on flickr called People Sleeping. I found I take a lot of photographs of people sleeping, very often in public.

Who is bored by Electric Lion? What do you want to see? I know this is my blog and about what I do, or whatever, but I'm down for suggestions.

I still need to find Goals to execute.

I'm still wanting to be more transparent about what I'm shooting and thinking.

I'm trying to be a better person. That is a very hard goal.

Feel free to give me feedback. I am open to it.

Day 060

el2_060

I didn't shoot a ton today, but it was snowy here (photo evidence to be had, if boring) and I had a very nerdy day, which totally works.

Day 059

Avoid morning sex, painted on a building. It makes zero percent sense to me, but I find it funny.

Day 052

This is one of those shots I'm draw to but don't rightly know why. Some subtle energy to it or something. This is at the Bodondo Clinic.

Day 048

el2_048

Another group shot. This time at the home garden of one of the women who volunteers at the Allen Stone Clinic in Bujagali. This is her family, including kiddos, and parents. Her husband is not present, but it isn't because he died of AIDS, as is pretty common, sadly. In Sarah's case it is that he was pretty awful to her and their religious beliefs also were splitting and she couldn't be with him any more, so she packed up the kids and headed out. I have audio of her story somewhere. Talk about courage...she seems to have it (especially in her context)..

Day 045

el2_045

Paul + Rose + their kids + other kids who stay at their orphange. This is a group shot in the road right after their church service the morning we left. Its funny how strange they look to me in clothes that aren't brown and ripped.

Day 044

God. Look at this freaking hair. She is fully amazing and I think I love her. I think I derailed there at some point.

Shooting later tonight but it is totally a secret.

Day 042

This guy...this guy is sweaty. I'll note that not 10 feet from him was a kid working at the corn mill wearing a woolen beanie.

Shot today: Two 4x5 polaroids of Bob. I like them.

Day 041

el2_041

So I realized I've been slacking on the details part.

Today I took only one frame. I took it of Shawn / Sean (not sure) whom I met through Allison whom I met via Bob.

I'm tired. Kevin is back in town.

Day 040

el2_040

Here is where I ate dinner one night. This is the Nile. Well, technically the White Nile, which is a source out of Lake Victoria (just south of where I was) for the Nile that everyone knows. It's nuts to me to think that water runs to the Mediterranean.

Kind of cheesy but man it is pretty.
